We are witnesses to the life changing love of God
Read Amon’s story:
Amon is 7 years and his life is a testimony of the life changing love of God! Young as he is Amon had known untold suffering. He was born a twin, within the first year, his twin brother died of HIV related illnesses. His father, who wasn’t working anymore, was at the brink of death. The family was in dire need.
Amon was often crying and walking in the nude in the community, scavenging for food in garbage pits and peoples’ gardens. The mother started washing clothes for the neighborhood, in order for the family to survive. Tom’s mother approached Miracle Destiny School, seeking support for her son. Our social worker visited and assessed this family. A sponsor was found for him, he now comes to Miracle Destiny School(MDS).
Peter and Mary’s story
Peter and Mary (9 years) were siblings. Their father died of HIV leaving them with a mother who wasn’t working. Owing to this, Peter, who was the older of the two children was born with HIV. The family lives in a mud and wattle room which costs $10 a month. At the first meeting, their mother looked like a grandmother due to the stress of the living conditions, and having school age children who couldn’t go to school due to lack of money.
She looked so hopeless and frail. The mother worked in a factory, doing menial work for which she was paid $1 for 8 hours of work a day. Both children started coming to Miracle Destiny School in 2008, so from then on, the mother didn’t have to worry about the children’s education. Her outlook on life started changing and she became jovial.
Emmanuel’s story
Emmanuel is a wonder! His mom was a woman in despair! She had been widowed and left with no source of income at all. She did all sorts of odd jobs to ensure that she put food on the table for her children. With the daily survival struggle she gave up on ever sending Emmanuel to school. The challenge was compounded by the fact that Emmanuel was born with HIV. From a friend, she found out about MDS and the support offered to children to study.
